How do traffic light controlled junctions that have filter systems work?

I understand the general concept of traffic light controlled junctions that have the green arrow filter system . That if the green arrow on the traffic light is pointing the direction you wish to go then you have priority over other traffic and that , for instance if you wish to turn right and there is a green light circle instead of an arrow then you can go unless oncming traffic is preventing you . However , in the instance where you wish to turn right , and there is green light instead of an arrow and there is oncoming traffi , so you approach the marked are in the middle of the road for turning right . Then before you are able to turn right due to the oncming traffic , the light turns to red , do you wait in the middle of the road for there to be a green light or arrow , or do you go when the light turns red , because otherwise you will be blocking traffic ?

if you pass on green and then they change,you are in the wrong if involved in a crash..

Can`t we have vehicle traffic control in conflict areas similar to our air traffic control system in the U. S.?

I know we would have better control and tracking of vehicles movements if they were in control of traffic controllers along with transponders that would help air strikes on offending vehicle traffic such as suicide bombers.
This system would help hinder suicide bombers by tracking their every move with their knowledge of knowing they could be blown up before they reach their target.

International Air Traffic Control?

I need to research about the air traffic control system, processes, employment, regulations, etc. of a country other than the US. Where can I go to obtain such information?

First understand the basic concept of Air traffic control (ATC).

It is a service provided by ground-based controllers who direct aircraft on the ground and in the air.
The primary purpose of ATC systems worldwide is to separate aircraft to prevent collisions, to organize and expedite the flow of traffic.
And when able, to provide information or other support for pilots.
In some countries, ATC may also play a security or defense role (as in the United States), or be run entirely by the military (as in Brazil).

Software causing loss of life or property?

Are there any specific examples(articles/ news clips) were a software bug/defect caused the loss of life or property. I have been thinking a failure at a nuclear facility or air traffic control system or banking system might be areas where this could happen but can’t find specific examples.
any help??? thanks

Very interesting question. No even, I didn’t find any articles showing any such incidents.

Probably, there may not be direct losses of life, but can be the indirect ones. May be because of the major fraud due to the bug in the banking software might have costed victim’s life. Just guesses.

Do the people who support the 2012 end of world also believe that the Earth is at the centre of our system?

And as in Astrology, their lives are controlled by a set of traffic lights in the sky?

I was at a party at the weekend and someone there who read lots of books on it was convinced that it was going to happen.

What I did not mention was the reason for the hoax was to sell such books!

I’d say very few.

In fact, the people who started the Big 2012 Hoax back in the Summer of 2003 were building on their earlier ‘Planet X’ hoax.

Aliens from a planet around a star 40 light-years from here warned their "friend" Nancy that a rogue planet was coming through our solar system and was going to pass too close to Earth, causing all the problems we see in Roland’s movie (yes, most of Roland’s movie is actually based on 2003, not 2012).

In order to construct the two hoaxes (Planet X for 2003 and the Big 2012 Hoax), they had to rely on a sun-centred solar system.

The other lies, hoaxes and stories that they have added to the Big 2012 Hoax also rely on the Sun being in a galaxy, but not at the centre of this galaxy.

Therefore, my answer to your first question is no.

The Big 2012 Hoax also relies heavily on "Ancient Prophesies" like Nostradamus, Bible Code, I Ching, and so on, which are all presented as writings done by human prophets. The writings themselves may pretend to be based on traffic lights in the sky, but their "reliability" depends on how much faith gullible people will put in the supposed authors.

Most of these "ancient prophesies" were invented after the Summer of 2003 (we know, for example, that Nostradamus never ever wrote anything about 2012); they did not exist before 2003.

However, a few date back to the 1960s and 1970s and it is possible that one or two are based on Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds — and we know that there were really people who allowed their lives to be controlled in such a fashion…

Therefore, my answer to your second question is… not directly. They prefer to rely on some person’s interpretation of what the traffic lights really mean (even if that interpretation is clearly faked).

Bonus answer (for Lady Hawk):

The date is an actual round figure in a Mayan day-count calendar used by Mayan astronomers way back when.

The lie about the calendar ending was invented in the late 1980s by a dude (José) who claims to be a reincarnated Mayan priest (he is not, he was born in Minnesota). When he first worked it out, he had picked a date in 2011.

When real experts told him how wrong his "interpretation" of the calendar was, he changed his date to the round figure "Mayan day number 13.00.00.00.00" (which falls either on Dec. 21, 2012 or Dec. 23, 2012 depending how you interpret some thousand-year-old inscriptions). I prefer the Dec. 21 version because that day would also have been their New Year’s Day (in the common calendar — used by the plebe).

By the time the Planet X charlatans were building the Big 2012 Hoax, José’s date for the [fake] end of the Mayan calendar was already popular in the circles of "New Age" believers. By "importing" this date into the Big 2012 Hoax, they also imported all the New Age beliefs that were being invented for it.

In the Mayan Long Count calendar, there is a round figure every 394 years and a quarter. The last one was in 1618 (Mayan day number 12.00.00.00.00) and the next one will be in 2407.

Air Force Job Ideas and Recommendations?

I am in the softbook program so when I report to MEPS this August I will list 4 jobs.

I Was thinking (as of today)…

1.Fire Protection
2.Air Traffic Control
3.Aerospace Medical Services(Medic 4N0)
4.Emergency Management

I am also thinking about…
Intel
Airfield Management
Aerospace Control and Warning Systems
EOD
Security Forces

What do you guys think, what would be your order and why? I like more active jobs, somewhat of an adrenaline junkie.suggestions welcome. thanks.

The second day at MEPS you will be given a list of all the jobs you qualify for. It depends on your ASVAB score/ physical health/ criminal record/ strength. I originally wanted Air Traffic Control but for some reason you have to be 5′4 and I’m 4′11. For many of the jobs you have to be able to lift a certain amount of weight. They’ll take you in a room with weights to see if you’re qualified in that area. You then put down your top five choices. I was happy with the variety of jobs open to me.
In the end, it all depends on your preference and what jobs you’re willing to do for four or six years. Aerospace Control and Warning Systems was one of my five.
