Traffic-Sense And Road Awareness
True or False: Yield sign doesn’t have right-of-way?
I live in a state where the highway system was designed by drunk people–Texas. You can often go miles past where you want to be because they don’t have convenient exits. At most exits, there is a turnaround lane to go back the other direction onto the freeway and they are posted as "yield." As far as I was taught, you "yield" to oncoming traffic no matter where it came from. You pretty much have no right-of-way with a yield sign.
I was approaching the freeway where I had to turn right for the access road and on ramp. There was a light, but of course if you’re turning right you can go any time it’s safe after you’ve stopped. I was waiting for the opposing traffic that was turning left from a green light and pretty much ignoring the people waiting at the turnaround (which would also sort of look like opposing traffic). After the left light traffic cleared, I went, but this old fart in the turnaround with the yield sign started wagging his finger at me. I was not wrong. AT least I’m 99.999% certain. He tried to gun it and cut me off, but I drive an ‘06 Civic Coupe. Ha! I got in front him whether he liked it or not.
So who is smokin’ dope here? Me, the right turn after a stop, or him, a left turn at a yield?
As I wrote, I had stopped and was waiting for the left light traffic. Please read carefully. Also, the turnaround is slightly ahead of the corner, so technically I was oncoming traffic whether I had come from the left lighters, or straight from the service road or the right turn lane. We were basically face-to-face. (And I do not produce testosterone, thank you.) No one wags their finger at me like a child when I know different (from SoCal, as a matter of fact).
true. yield has to yield to traffic. they have to use their best judgment on when they can go and only can they go when other traffic is clear

I’m going to be president 2012-2020 what would you really want done in/by America no other pres before me?
1. i am going to reform the penal system
2. our education system
3. our highway interstate system to be more like the autobahn it was designed from. if youve ever driven in germany, you know what im saying! no traffic jams, no construction zone slow downs, no accident rubber necking. funniest of all traffic cops who enforce drivers to behave. they fine you on the spot $100 make you "time out" for 45mins to 3hrs for rude driving. hilarious!
4. my personal fave, i want to be known as the info man. keeping secrets creates ignorance, not security. ive worked in deep sectors of intell civillian and military. its easiest to watch the actions of those in the circle of informed participants. then wonder surveil or tail those who shouldnt know, if they already somehow do know or not. information is proprietary to a nation and an individual. somethings need to be more open policy and public forum then what is so now. "experimentation" on our military for one. VOTE FOR ME, FOR WISDOM
yes, even tho im vulcan, i was born in america so i can still be president
Dude, thx i actually had that on there! healthcare reform atleast base coverage and qtrly well care visits. its def easier to prevent than cure someone. RXs need to come way down~
prohibition doesnt work, except for criminal elements. i agree legalize drugs tax them for revenue. we need to find wasy of using pot for fuel cells in automobiles. even if we had stopped traffic itd be a jam, and the exhaust would keep everyone "mellowed" no road rage
definitely use our technology to prevent wars. when we determine we must go, use personell as secondary forces. as well as current positions of peace keepers.
in wars use robotics, manless drones to lead & disperse munition/agents to render forces unconscience dead if need be. then send in special ops teams for clean up. & regular forces for strongholds.
1st action bye bye U.N. other than humanitarian relief efforts.
tax reforms would give our country a boost in revenues in the 100s of billions. while eliminating the IRS work force to 20% its current position. and eliminate many needs for tax preps bc it would simply be 15% flat rate period no deductions. ppl like to claim we’d lose too much in revenues but it simply isnt so. crunch the numbers youll see how much were losing now by our present taxation system and the expense to police it. also. a flat rate system wouldve prevented most forms of book cooking as in enron scams etc.
You know what isn’t working, and what the solutions are. You know what needs fixed or changed. You will accomplish what others haven’t. You’ll be the Prez of the people, for the people. xoxoxoxox

didnt get many answers so asking again?
We all have good pregnancy stories and I am curious whats your funniest or craziest story.
Here’s mine. I was about 8 weeks along and just getting to where I was always thirsty and had to make constant bathroom stops. I live about a 15-20 min from Portland Oregon and never went in to the city on my own because I hate city traffic. One night I had to run an errand which required me to go in to Portland and my boyfriend couldn’t go with me. (He usually drives because I get lost.) It was about 7 pm so I figured it was safe being as rush hour was pretty much over. So I go run my errand which was a pretty quick in and out thing and start heading back home, I had my navigation system on and had no problem (for once!) finding my way back to the highway. The navigation system tells me when there is traffic accidents or congestion whenever I am in the city and it starts saying “traffic accident ahead expect 5 minute delay”. So no big deal right 5 minutes! WRONG!! I was less than a mile from the on ramp to HWY 26 (which is the one I needed to take to get home) when my nav system said this and it took me OVER 45 minutes to get to the highway! The thing is like I said I was pregnant and always thirsty and always had to make bathroom stops. So after spending 45 minutes just waiting to get on the highway I still had another 20 minute drive home and by the time I got to the highway I was about in tears and contemplating just pulling over and squatting on the side of the road screw what the thousands of people driving by think right? Haha. So anyway halfway home I am bawling because I have to pee and lucky me there is a hospital right off the highway so what do I do? Well I pull in to the emergency entrance because F*** it right, any lady that’s been pregnant knows what Im talking about… this was an emergency, so I pull in to the emergency entrance and make about 4 passes through the parking lot before I find a space and take off hauling *** in to the ER to find a bathroom. I wish I had a picture of the confused security guard at the front doors face after I ran in like there was a big emergency and calmy walked out less than 3 minutes later and got in my car and left!
So I want to hear your stories, points for the best answer!!
i was a waitress all through my first pregnancy and it helped me make really good tips. i kind of had a snappy attitude at times, cause some people were such a pain in my pregnant @ss. anyway, a guy said, "hey ill let ya keep this tip if you name your kid after me", and handed me 2 bucks. i said "what do you want me to name her, "cheap @ss"?? luckily he thought it was hilarious and left me a ten dollar bill.
and no i did not name my child cheap @ss.

mines not that great, it was one of those "you had to be there moments, so try to picture it lol.
i was about 8 months along by this time last year, and the summer before that i had been called for jury duty and my dumb ass decided not to go, sooo they called me back for it while i was all fat and uncomfortable and pregnant, and so im sittin there in this really crowded room with the ultimate awkward silence.. all you could hear was an occasional cough, whisper or sneeze, when my normally very active baby started kicking the hell out of me so hard it was practically throwing me off of my chair, and tilting me in diff directions. you could see the bumps sooo well, and i suddenly hear a bunch of little chuckles and snickers around me, and the old lady sitting next to me goes "WOW!! that things playing football inside of you!!"
im an easily embarrassed person so i turned 40 shades of red at that point. everyone else distracted me tho with "how far along are you?" and "boy or girl?" or "do you have a name picked out?" and all the normal pregnancy questions you get bombarded with.

Why do I catch the images of a surveillance camera with the converter-box system?
With the new converter box system, my TV set gets a channel it never used to get before, "WNYE-2" which only shows alternating views of Times Square, The Brooklyn Bridge at Centre Street, The F.D.R. at 155th Street, the Staten Island Express at Vooley Avenue, the 59th Street Bridge, the Long Island Expressway and Van Wyck, The Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, and other images of traffic and/or people going through a street or bridge or highway and apparently these are images of what is happening as recorded by a surveilance camera at the particular area. It seems that some of the images are captured on one of those "time delay" systems and actually I am not so sure if the images are a few hours old because sometimes it seems that the scenes of the particular surveilance camera are from an ealiier or later part of the day and I wonder if the surveilance images are even of the prior day rather than the current day because they do not seem to be exactly "live" to the exact millisecond, if you get what I mean. I doubt that I strictly am the only person getting this particular channel. Anyone familiar with WNYE-2?
I would like to know if the continous coverage on WNYE-2 (Channel 25-2) which shows different parts of streets and bridges and expressways around the New York area is some kind of special channel that is meant to be presented to the public just like any other channel on TV, or has there been some kind of mix-up of signals with the new converter box system so that a lot of people’s TV sets are unintentionally catching what is being shown on surveilance cameras throughout certain areas around New York City? If channel WNYE-2 is meant to show TV viewers ongoing coverage of what surveilance cameras are recording, who’s idea was it to make such a channel? Who thought that TV viewers would want to have a channel that shows surveilance camera images? I actually find it interesting to sometimes watch what is happening at rather deserted areas of a bridge crossway or a suburban like highway, but I can’t imagine how this thing just came about.
Very funny. Some of you are giving dumb explainations. It actually did occurr to me to "Ask them" but I don’t know whom is in charge of the "surveilance channel." Anyone have a serious useful answer? (Otherwise don’t write in).
Why not ask them?

Looks like it is planned and santioned by the City.
