,..just like the 1991 Cadillac Brougham, where when you get in the car, it has automatic seatbelts that buckle you up while slide on an electronic overhead?

It seems law enforcement and the judicial system are making a fortune off giving you people tickets for not wearing their seatbelts, so what if, hypothetically speaking, all cars suddenly all had that same type of automatic seatbelt system overnight just like the Cadillac Brougham used to have?

Would they be ANGRY now that they’re not making anywhere near as much on tickets anymore? What would their reaction be? Are police officers happy when people don’t wear their seatbelt to that they can write more tickets and make more money? What if everyone drove flawlessly and there were no moving violations or accidents behind the wheel so therefore no ticket were ever written? Would police officers and the judiocial system scream, rip their hair out in frustration, throw TVs out windows, and throw temper tantrums now that they’re no longer making money off tickets and now that no one appears in traffic court anymore to pay court costs?

96 accord problems (detailed)?

I’m having some problems with my 96 accord (lx, four cylinder, automatic transmission). I bought it about six months ago with about 158k on it, and thought it was a good deal. unfortunately, I ended up having to pay to fix warped rotors, other brake problems, wheel balance, engine mount, and the front left ball joint w/ alignment. the service records showed something like a glass replacement on the driver’s side window, so I’m wondering if some minor accident involving that side of the car is what caused the ball joint to go bad. the guy at the shop said a bad ball joint at 158k just didn’t make any sense to him. I need to replace the radiator soon, and things just have me worried. I’m beginning to think the guy who owned it before must have driven it like a maniac.

oh, and I need to flush the brake system and the power steering system. the shop guys said the fluids are black. the previous owner only took car of the oil and the 100k service.

now, what I don’t understand is as follows. my car has a difficult time in what I suppose to be first gear. driving around my townhouse complex, it feels like it is dragging, struggling, before it gets into second gear (I drive slowly in residential areas), and is smooth once it gets there. it shifts a little hard into second, too. I’m getting a brief groan from almost the center of the car underneath when taking off from a stop light, and sometimes I get a loud vibrating groan when gently accelerating (especially around 38mph and gently uphill). I’m also getting some occasional surging when driving through rush hour traffic, starting and stopping (and starting and stopping frequently just feels unhealthy). oh, and when it’s cold (I park outside), it idles kind of rough when I stop at a light or sign.

I don’t know what’s wrong! I’m wondering if a simple engine tune-up and transmission service would fix things, but I’m really worried. I only know the basics about cars, and don’t have a clue what could be causing these problems. I put quite a bit into this car, and I believe that if I can fix the rest of this up it will be a very good investment, but I am worried. Does anybody know what the problem may be or what I need to put it in the shop for to work out these problems? I’m hoping I’m not looking at the tip of an iceberg, but it it IS an iceberg, I’d rather know sooner than later. any professional advice/knowledge-by-experience is greatly appreciated.

158k miles especially if driven hard is not a low mileage for a ball joint. If there are wider then normal tires then the wear will also be quickened. As far as brake fluid and power steering go 1996 was not yesterday and only God knows when if ever it was last changed. The same would go for your transmission fluid and filter. If the pads and rotors were just replaced then the brake fluid should have been spotted then and the system cleaned and bled. I would start with a good flush and clean of everything and then see how the engine runs. Of course you can do a compression check and a vacuum check now but a more fair reading would be after a little cleaning was done, you are keeping the car any ways and the fluids need changing.

(4) every person is assessed on their own merit and be of value to the united Kingdom.
(5) any person involved with human trafficking to receive the heaviest of sentencing, then deported with immediate effect after serving the full sentence with no parole..

Hello,

I’m currently in the process of enlisting in the USAF and I had a few questions that I am hoping someone with previous experience/knowledge can assist with.

1. I am going in as enlisted but I hope to become an officer one day. I’ve heard that it is possible to become an officer this way, but any thing is possible. Is it rare or a farely easy transition? I understand I would to submit my application to the board and go through OTS, but is this a frequent practice? What about the success rate?

My recruiter pointed out that any healthcare/medical job would almost be automatic.

If selected for a healthcare job, I would purse a degree in that area. Otherwise, I would pursue an electronics or computer engineering degree.

OTS is very competitive. You would have a better chance with a SOAR (Scholarship for Outstanding Airmen to ROTC) scholarship. They would pay you at E-5 level while you went to college full time. There are some restrictions though. Of the jobs you have above, ATC and Computer Systems Control would be the ones with the most need.
ATC’s can earn $75000 plus working at a medium sized airport or for the FAA. There is a low retention rate for this career field so there is always a need for new junior enlisted in this career field. Computer Systems Control, or for that matter any computer, networking, or communications job is also bound to be high. With the arrival of USAF Cyber Command, there will be a lot of empty seats for the first few years as they develop the infrastructure for those jobs. However there is always a need for deployable medical personnel. The program with the most openings as of right now is the PA program. You would need no more than two years of college left and they would send you to school to become a Physician’s Assistant. These are rapidly taking the place of actual doctors in stateside military hospitals without emergency rooms. They are responsible for general healthare and report to a practicing doctor. They allow for more doctors to go downrange and attend to the medical needs of deployed troops.

The other medical jobs you have listed are pretty rare to come by but every now and then there is an opening. But you shouldnt hold your breath.

Does coasting in neutral gear save petrol? and, is it dangerous?

Ive debated with many people about this, I think it saves petrol because the rpm is much lower, therefore less petrol is being drawn into the engine. I often put my automatic into neutral when coasting down hills or towards red traffic lights. Ive searched the internet about this and all ive found is this:

Coasting in neutral could save you money with old cars fitted with carburettors, but modern fuel injection systems cut the fuel supply off altogether as you slow to a stop, saving a surprising amount, especially in stop/start driving. And coasting in neutral, or with the clutch depressed, is potentially dangerous too, because you have no engine braking, and can’t suddenly accelerate out of danger."

How can the engine still be running if there is no petrol being used? And I cant think of any scenarios where being in neutral would be dangerous.
I dont know too much about mechanics, can anyone shed some light on this subject?

You’re in neutral and something bolts in front of the car. You instinctively push down the pedal so you can scoot out of the way. The engine roars but you go no faster because you are in neutral. So you get into an accident instead of driving around. In some states I believe it is actually a ticket-giving offense as they can claim you are not in control of the vehicle. How they could prove that is another story.

The engine still sucks in fuel as it needs to run. IF it saves any fuel the amount would be mere atoms not gallons.

How can I distinguish a malware infection from yet another bug in a Microsoft product?

Last week, for some odd reason, my IE-7 installation lost its ability to open a web page on the internet. When I tried to open a web page, IE-7 would just lock up and stop responding. On my external modem, the Rx/Tx lights just stayed dark, indicating no traffic. IE-7 worked fine for opening HTML files on the local hard drive.

I ran virus, spyware, and malware scans with 3 different products, and none of them found anything infected. I recovered from this problem by using XP’s System Restore function to restore to a checkpoint from the previous day.

I had not installed any new software, but I had Microsoft’s automatic updates enabled, and the title of the checkpoint that I restored from looks like it was something XP created before an update.

no lights on your modem means no traffic. opening a local file would work fine because it’s not an internet location, rather an html file on your drive that isnt reaching out to the web. sounds like a microsoft update screwed with your settings
